From the front drip tray - consider the bucket's ability to drain/recycle melted ice - to the WiFi connection and scheduling via the app... everything was considered. It performs better than advertised!

Best Ice Maker out there!

This ice maker makes ice really fast! Had ice within 10 mins of plugging it in. It also looks really cool sitting on the country with nice ambient lighting. All of my friends have this same unit and love it! With today’s refrigerators ice machines breaking constantly this was a nice addition to our home.

Great Nugget Ice!

As someone who purchased this when it was originally released by Opal (before the GE purchase), I can say this one is a TON better. Better design, quieter, easier to clean, better ice production, the list is seemingly endless. The darker grey color and side water tank are wonderful additions. Ever since GE purchased the company, the unit is vastly superior to the original. Highly recommended!!!!

Unreliable, loud, defective

I had this icemaker and within the first 10 days, it made horrible sounds, wise than the expected whaling I read about. Keep in mind that I used only distilled water and purchased the opal filter. It would turn itself off after making a terrible noise like grinding chains. It was pretty, but could never get a full basket of ice.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the ice

The ice is amazing. I have the opal 1 as well, and that one is amazing. But I like the look of the opal 2.0 way better, but there are some issues with the opal 2.0 the thing squeals all the time. So if it didn’t squeal all the time it would be a 4 to 5 star rating from me. They did do some good upgrades from the last model but obviously they haven’t figured out the icing up issue. From what I’ve read the squealing is do to icing up and then it defrosts itself to fix it. But it spends more time defrosting than making ice ,and let’s be honest for how much these things cost they should be in better working order especially when you make a 2.0.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
