Amazing ice!

We love this ice maker. It’s a constant use in our house! Expense but worth it. Only lasted 3 years but it is used consistently and we replaced as soon as the other one broke.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent updated soft ice maker

I had the first generation of this ice maker from FirstBuild before it became GE. My old ice maker was loud and very slow making ice. The new updated version from GE now is much quieter, now has a WiFi connection that is much more robust and makes ice much faster. It was well worth the upgrade. The new ice maker also not only has WiFi scheduling but also integrates to Alexa allowing voice control as well.

Have been replacing counter top ice machines every year.
Purchased extra coverage so if it breaks down it should be the same cost as replacing ice machines just the price is all up front. Descaling is not super easy and I usually run ice through and dump before using again. Never sure how well the cleaning function is or where it’s at in the process. If there was some clearer functions for that might be better. I don’t run it 24/7 but maybe 8hours a day if I forget sometimes longer. it seems to get the job done and I eat ice most the day when I’m home. I have yet to set up the schedule with the timer but I really like this product and the ice. I’ve seen a few people have it and finally pulled the trigger.

We researched many models of nugget ice makers. The GE Opal was the highest rated on Consumer Reports, and we wanted a reliable and long-lasting item. We have had the Opal for almost a month now, and we greatly enjoy the features that allow the make to be programmed during times of the day of heavier use. After reading reviews, we decided to use purified drinking water to reduce the hard water buildup that may occur with tap water. As of right now, no regrets. The Opal was more money than we wanted to spend, but after researching, it became clear that it was one of the best options for purchasing a high-quality product.

Fast and delicious ice

My wife loves nugget ice. Her cousin has one of these machines and she really liked it. So I surprised her with it for Christmas. When it's making ice, it's not loud but it is a hum in the background. I like how it recycles the water from the ice that melts. Definitely add the water tank on the side... it makes it a lot easier to fill and allows you to make ice for a few days. A little bit of a pain to clean, but I set aside about an hour every couple weeks and it's not bad.
