Add Water

I was excited about this purchase but nervous at the same time. I’m very frustrated and disappointed to have spent so much money and to keep having to troubleshoot so early in the purchase. It’s constantly saying “Add Water” when the water tank is completely full.

Hello- We appreciate your purchase and can understand how frustrating it is to continually troubleshoot your new Opal. This is frustrating and hopefully this will be resolved for you soon.

Here are some tips that should help. If the water well is filled to the upper fill line and no ice is being produced, please perform this simple test: 1. Please start the Opal and switch to cleaning mode. Don't forget to detach the side tank. 2. Remove the screen/filter at the bottom corner of the reservoir, exposing the small white rubber inlet used for water circulation. 3. Make certain that the Opal is not connected to the phone app and that the water well is filled to the upper fill line with distilled water. 4. Remove the ice bin and press the button to see if the Opal pumps water. This could take up to 5 minutes to start. 5. Plug the small inlet with your finger for 10-15 seconds to create a vacuum within the pump/circulation system. 6. Release the plug and wait a minute or until you see water movement. 7. If you do not see a change, you may want to repeat these steps a couple of times.

Note: If you see water movement, please switch to ice mode and run for 30 minutes.

You may also need to prime your pump so try using a Turkey Baster/Injector and gently fill the hose that doesn't go to the side tank with water, and then restart the machine.

Not a Great Start

I’ve had it for 3 weeks. I love it when it works. A couple days ago it started making a terrible grinding noise. GE says it needs to be returned. Guess we will see what happens.

Very bad choice.

The ice is very good, when the machine works. This is our second machine, after the first one was replaced with a refurbished machine. Our first machine stopped making ice after about 2 months. It was replaced with a refurbished machine and this one has now stopped working. This has been a very frustrating and expensive decision.

This ice machine is a beast until the squeaky gears begin to screech. Only 4 months in and going to take advantage of this warranty. Cross your fingers.

We've had it for just over a month and love it. We purchased it to replace our Newair bullet ice maker. The ice is the perfect size and it's nice to have the side tank so we don't have to fill it as often.
