Reliable Ice Machine

I purchased a GAVI ice/nugget machine because it was cheaper and had high reviews, I was sadly disappointed with the unbearable noise it made while making ice after a week. The GE Nugget Ice Machine did not make any obnoxious noise for the past several months although we have hard water. The amount of ice in less time is suitable for our family needs, especially in hot climates. Thanks GE Profile for not compromising your quality.

It makes ice well BUT

I do like this ice maker, it makes them well and in these small balls that are fun to feel in your mouth. I wish that it wouldn’t make this screaming noise every other week, for no reason. It’s especially bad when it wakes you up in the middle of the night. It is newer machine so there wasn’t a lot of reviews mentioning that. We shouldn’t have to change out the ice every week bc it feels so wasteful of water and energy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the ice, makes funny noises.

This is our 2nd GE ice maker. Our first one gave out after about 1 year and a half. It made noise and then there was a leak, and then it stopped making ice all together. We have had this one for about 6 months and it makes squealing noises when it is defrosting. Which is kind of annoying but the ice is delicious so we deal with the weird noise.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love ice, hate noise

Don’t waste your money. Love the ice but unit is noisy, squeaks and moans frequently. Have to turn off at night to avoid waking us up.

My new machine pours water into the collection bin so my ice is always hard. It is more water than ice.

Unit can get very noisy at times. We also cannot put the drawer in all the way or the water runs into the ice bin. We just keep the bin a smidge away from the back and it works fine. Pricey but overall happy with the ice!
