I absolutely love my Opal! Nugget ice is the best and this machine really delivers. Compact enough to fit on my RV counter, quiet operation, and plenty of ice for get togethers. I highly recommend it!

Love the icemaker, though it can be a little noisy at times.
Would also be nice if it had a water intake that could be hooked up to it to add water automagically

Nugget Ice is awesome!

The icemaker is very quick to make ice. It does make a slight hum sound as it's making ice. The online app. Is available to make ice certain days/times you like. I highly recommend!

Love the ice, but not the maker

We love how quick and great the ice maker is ~ however a week after buying it, it started making a loud screeching sound heard all throughout the house that no matter how much we tried to follow the directions and fix, it always started up again. Literally a week after buying, and now that we are getting it replaced it will be with a refurbished one. So went from a brand new one, to a replacement refurbished one :/
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great, but use only distilled water!

Purchased the GE Opal Ice Maker 2.0 in December of 2022 (three months in as of this writing) and had problems from the first week. I was only using tap water, and so the scaling would cause the loudest squealing (neighbors could hear it) when defrosting (1-2 times daily). I purchased the GE water filtration system, but the design wouldn’t allow enough water to get through causing a “Add Water” error. I was doing a clean cycle once a week and the maintenance was driving me crazy, to the point I almost took it back. Finally did a deep descaling with vinegar and started purchasing Distilled Water, and now it runs beautifully. So overall, a great working unit, but be prepared to have to purchase Distilled (not filtered) water to get the best no-hassle performance (1-2 gallons per week for a two person household).
