Awesome Ice Maker

My wife is a big fan of “Sonic ice”. She has me stop by and purchase their ice whenever we have a party or family gathering. Now, we have this ice made right on our countertop! Our granddaughters love it and it’s become a treat that they like to have whenever they come over. We talked about buying on of these for years and then we received on with the side reservoir as a Christmas present from our kids. It was the best Christmas present ever!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Makes great ice, but although it would be better if the appliance had somewhat of a refrigeration, so if you do not use all of the ice, it will start melting

Great Ice Maker But With Flaws

First off the GE Opal 2.0 Ice Maker itself is fantastic with the type of and production of ice that it makes. SONIC ICE. There is no question about it when it comes to this. It is second to none. Its fast, quiet (slight hum) and holds & keeps ice available with having to continuously run the machine. FLAWS: Cleaning it can be a large pain in the butt depending more on the placement in your situation. If you have to move it to a sink, its not a light weight machine, so keep that in mind. The wifi app allows very basic integration with Alexa and Google Assistant. Like turn on and turn off the machine and light. That's it. You can not ask them what is the water level or if it's time to add water. They have no clue. There are no PUSH NOTIFICATIONS to your phone like every other app out there in the world for Smart Appliances or Lights. Example you go to work and want to turn on you machine on the drive home (something happened while you were away and water in the system. You will not know until you arrive home) It would be great to a Push Notification stating that if you use your Voice Assistant to turn it on. The only way to know is if you go into the app which defeats Voice App integration in the first place. I'm not sure how dumb a company has to be or how important this functionality is when it comes to using your voice to operate a machine you paid $$$$ because of getting such features and not fully delivering on it, but for me, I feel cheated at this price point. Last Flaw: it does have a scheduler, again no Push Notification if you run out of water, that is easy to program. But there is not a scheduler for the built-in light feature. This is controlled by the app and manual only. WHY? With the average ice makers of this size are a lot less expensive, why am I paying so much more, without getting so much more features I assumed would be present at this price point?

I love our Icemaker! I have heard a lot of people having issues but the key is to do a cleaning at least once a month and to use distilled water.

The best ice

This ice maker beats any other ice maker on the market. The ice is crunchy and chewable but lasts quite a while. It is perfect for cocktails and every day use. I cannot go back to anything else
