Good ice machine

Didn’t think we would Use it. Kids bought it for us for Christmas. But it has come in handy. After a year we did get some loud noises coming from the gear box. Had to oil bearings and now it is back to running. It will keep up with four grown men drinking whiskey and coke!

This is by far one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I didn’t realize just how popular and yummy this ice is!! I only wish I would have purchased a long time ago! It makes ice so quickly and is very quiet. The app is an extra fun touch!

After 2.5 years of our Opal Ice Maker Ed1, we knew we had to buy another (although the first ice machine should not have broke 2.5 yrs in) since we love the ice and functionality. Now hete we are with our 2.0 Opal Ice Maker. Excited about this one. MAKE SURE TO CLEAN THEM EVERY 3 WEEKS AND ONLY USE DISTILLED WATER!!!!!

Great nugget ice

I had bought the full size scotsman ice maker 9 years ago and it died. Of course price had almost doubled in 9 years and couldn't spend that much money on a new one. I did research and saw great reviews on the Opal 2 GE. I got it and love it. It is perfect makes a lot of ice. I have the app and have it on time for only 5 hours since the ice stays for several hours in the ice bucket. The app allows you to turn on and off if needed or set a calendar to come on like an alarm and turn off at the programmed time.

Wife had to have it. I was hesitant. It’s grown me. You have to use clean water. If your tap water, filtered water or bottled water isn’t as clean as you think. The impurities will collect in the ice maker. It’s easy to clean. I like the Wi-Fi aspect and the schedule future so it makes ice when we want ice. You have to plan about an hour in advance. I’m reluctant to use ice from a fridge ice maker for just not knowing how clean the ice is.

So many issues

When it works properly, it’s wonderful. But it hardly ever works properly. We had to already trade in our first icemaker because it had so many issues. Now the second one has issues as well. Sometimes it just gets clogged and doesn’t fill with water. Sometimes it sits idle for no reason and doesn’t produce ice. We have to take it apart and back together so many times in order for it to work. Again, if it would work, smoothly start to finish all the time the ice is wonderful.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
