Do not buy!

Breaks quickly, the first one we got broke after about a month, the first replacement broke after a week, the second replacement didn’t work out of the box. We are now on the fourth unit and are hoping it will last a little longer
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Had it for about 5 months now. It has been working flawlessly. For a household of 2, the side tank was not needed. Water refilled about once a week or so. The key thing is to only use distilled water. It will help prevent a lot of problem. Another thing I noted in other reviews about water leaking. I had water leakage once and quickly realized it’s completely user error. When the ice bin is full, do not refill the water to the max line. The app has very basic function, schedule on and off, and turning on/off/dim the light. My wish list is for GE to add a function to schedule the light individually. My only complaint is it can get loud sometimes, usually when water is close to being empty.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love my Opal ice maker I did have the one with the side tank. It is by far the best ice you will use in your
Cocktails! Very important reminder to clean the machine regularly… it will start squeaking if you let the calcium build up! I did use super filtered water and. Lean it out monthly!

Who doesn’t love Pellet Ice?

While the ice is great, there is a significant amount of maintenance to keep your ice clean and enjoyable.
The ice “bucket” drips condensation on your counter or tray every time you pull it out.
Be aware of the size of this thing as in a small kitchen, it would take up a large amount of counter space.
The side reservoir, can help you go almost a month on one refill.
The app allows you to schedule times to make ice. And ice is coming out about 10 minutes after you start it. And the ice bin can be full in about 3 hours. That is 3 lbs of awesome ice.
Setup can be awkward if you go by the instructions, so go find a YouTube video and it is easy.
Enjoy your beverages with your favorite ice. You will be glad you got this.
