I love ice so I have wanted a good ice maker forever. Finally got it and my family loves it. I highly recommend the version with the water tank. It is worth the little extra cost.

Great nugget ice maker

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. She had borrowed two friends nugget ice makers several times because she really likes nugget ice.
I knew my wife really wanted one but I wanted a quality one, not a cheap one. I did lots of research and found that the GE Opal always ranked high and had great reviews.
We have been totally impressed with this ice maker. My wife’s even got me hooked on nugget ice. It is WAY quieter than our friends. You really don’t hear it unless you are in the kitchen. When we had used our friends ice makers, they were very loud.
Some other things I really like about the GE Opal 2 - it makes ice very fast. It connects to WiFi so you can turn it on/off remotely. You can set a schedule for it to turn on/off at certain times.
If you want your ice maker running in tip top shape and for it to last, you want to be faithful in doing this maintenance.
Overall, we love this ice maker and are very pleased with it. I laugh at my wife because she bags the ice in 2 gallon bags and hands it out to friends and neighbors. She really likes her nugget ice. This GE Opal 2.0 is a workhorse and keeps her and all our friends very happy.

We absolutely love our ice maker. We’ve only had it the last three months. However, I haven’t had any issues. Love that I can program it to be on in the morning and off during the day.

Highly recommend getting/using the side tank. Once the app was installed and put the icemaker on a schedule, we were completely satisfied. I have it coming on about 8ish in the morning, and again at 5ish. So we always have ice.

Apple is very successful not because of what they make (iPhone, etc.) or even how they make them, but rather as to "why" they make them. Their goal is to change people's ways as to why they do what they do. Now, GE has caught on and realize there is a niche of people that really, really like soft ice. We may not even be sure as to why we like soft ice (the good ice), but we just know we like it. This remarkable countertop ice maker is never seen as a "clutter" on my countertop, but rather a treasure that we dip into throughout the day. We make the softest "crunch, crunch, crunch" sounds in the world when we chew ice and we love it!!! Thank you GE for fulfilling our why.
