Great ice but noisy…

It makes great ice and fast which is awesome, but the machine is really noisy. It also frequently makes a loud noise (the only way I know to describe it is like a whale call) and the only way we can get it to stop is to do 3 clean cycles. I love that it had a clean cycle, but should I really be needing to do this every 3 days to stop the whale call?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

While we always want to provide as peaceful an experience as possible, we do expect the Opal to make some sounds as it operates. If it might be useful, we have an article discussing what sounds are considered normal for the unit available here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=35276&_ . Regarding cleaning, while we do recommend cleaning/sanitizing the Opal once per week, if possible, to maintain optimal ice production, we wouldn’t normally expect you to have to clean every three days. We hope the information about sounds in the article will be helpful, but if you’re not able to resolve your noise concern we do have Opal Support available online at myopalservice.com or over the phone at 1-866-907-6718 ; those specialists would be glad to assist further.

Really love this ice machine so far. There is a little first-time cleaning and setup involved, but totally worth it. It makes ice fast and keeps the ice ready to go for any drink you need. The ice is soft and crunchy and so satisfying. This is a high-quality product that is worth the price.
