Easy set up, wonderful Ice production

Love how quickly the product arrived, the ease of unboxing and set up. I completed it on my own and I don't consider myself abnormally strong. I am 48 and had it up and running in under 2 hours. That's running extra cleaning cycle and reading through the manual. Highly recommend.

So far we really enjoy the ice maker. Easy setup and maintenance. You got to be careful with the tubes because the side tank line can slip off when moving it around.

I continually have an issue with the “defrost” or cleaning buttons. They are consistently on and ice is not being made. I’ve read the manual over and over and do not possess the degree required with operate this expensive toy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there, and thanks for contacting us about this. We hate to hear you’re having an issue with the Defrost/Cleaning staying on and ice not being made – we know this must be frustrating. This definitely isn’t what we would expect from our ice maker, and we regret any inconvenience caused.
The Opal is meant to automatically defrost as needed, but we don't expect it to be in that mode excessively. As you’ve reviewed the manual already, you may want to view our article discussing possible defrosting issues, linked here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=000062724&_ . Among other information, that does discuss making sure the unit has enough clearance around it to provide proper airflow and prevent going into defrost mode too frequently. Regarding the cleaning cycle, that would not usually be automatically initiated and is only meant to run when the ‘Clean’ button is pressed. Resetting the Opal by unplugging it for 3 to 4 hours may help.
If you’re not able to resolve these issues with the provided information, we do have Opal Support available at 1-866-907-6718 and online at myopalservice.com ; those specialists would be happy to assist. An Ice Lover’s Dream!

I love how fast the ice accrues and the app that comes with it so I can schedule when to start making ice and when to stop, and I can make as much ice as I want with the side tank! Truly the best thing in your 3rd trimester when all you want is ice!

We like everything about this product. It is easy to maintain, make a good amount of ice and requires minimal cleaning/maintenance every few weeks. Its has been wonderful to date.
