Good when it works

The product overall is great when it works. But it often stops and says “need water” when the water is full and I’m having to constantly reset it. And there is no clear directions on how to reset it so I had to simply unplug it for 2 to 3 hours and hope that it works again or shut it on and off constantly which is pretty annoying. I was expecting something up at this price point to be a little bit more reliable….
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We’re so sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your ice maker. This is certainly not the experience we wish for our consumers to have; therefore, we will be happy to help you troubleshoot.

If your Opal is indicating that it still needs water, even after you’ve filled the water well, you can perform the following steps to reset the unit:

1. Please start the Opal and switch it to Cleaning Mode. Don't forget to detach the side tank if present.

2. Remove the screen/filter at the bottom corner of the reservoir, exposing the small white rubber inlet used for water circulation.

3. Make certain that the Opal is not connected to the phone App and that the water well is filled to the upper fill line with distilled water.

4. Remove the ice bin and press the Power Button/Pad to see if the Opal pumps water. This could take up to 5 minutes to start.

5. Plug the small white rubber inlet with your finger for 10 to 15 seconds to create a vacuum within the pump/circulation system.

6. Release the plug (your finger) and wait a minute or until you see water movement.

7. If you do not see any change, you may want to repeat these steps a couple of times.

8. If you see water movement, please switch to the Ice Mode, and run for 30 minutes. The Opal should now work as normal.

The best ice maker! I’ve had others in the past that were so slow making ice. This is so fast. We are a family of 6 and we have not run out of ice yet.

A near perfect household ice machine

I purchased this product a few months ago and so far we love it. It does make a bit of noise while producing ice but you quickly get used to it. You can program it to produce ice at night but I have not bothered with this yet. It requires regular cleaning (once per week) if you want clean, good tasting ice.
The only issue I have encountered is the machine has incorrectly registered as "add water" a few times when the sidetank is full. I checked my hoses and ensured they were not pinched or blocked.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great ice machine but has some issues

I love this ice machine. The only issue I had was that I wasn’t able to connect it to my phone via app. And on the 2nd week it was having some problems making ice. Kept saying to add water when the reservoir was full of water already. For something that’s 2 weeks old it shouldn’t have had those kinds of problems. Otherwise it’s a solid machine.

Opal is the best ice maker I've ever had. It's so easy to set up. The ice is perfect size and so soft. I use filtered water so I know there is no extra chemicals in my ice. My whole family loves how there is always ice made for there drinks.
