Huge improvements over the first gen

I purchased this Opal after receiving an older gen model for my birthday and having nothing but problems with it. Immediately I could tell that the GE product team made significant efforts to address customer pain points. It’s quieter, doesn’t take in as much dust on the vents, and the app tells you when your machine needs to be descaled. You don’t have to listen to the awful screeching and try and diagnose the issue on YouTube. I’ve come to realize my water is still hard due to the salt we use in our softening system and Opal will need to be descaled every few weeks. But at least now I know!

"The good ice" all day, all the time. Our ice maker went out in our refrigerator and the model we have is notorious for faulty ice makers. Instead of having them out to replace every 3 months, we opted to bite the bullet for some good ice. Best appliance decision ever! If enough of these get purchased, Sonic could go out of business.

Makes great ice

I really like the ice that it makes, not happy with the loud vibration sound though. And worst of all, we have had it less than two months and it leaked water from the tank not the hoses for some reason and cracked up my furniture it was on in the the dining room.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not worth the money.

This product continually disappoints - makes very little usable ice no matter how many times I clean it or make sure it has air flow. Big disappointment.
