If it didn’t run ALL THE TIME and require so much constant care it would be 5/5. We love the ice this machine makes, it seems to be a well built product and has some very nice improvements over the 1st gen machine. But… holy smokes is it loud and the thing runs ALL THE TIME. Open the bin and get a scoop of ice - it runs, for a long long time. Start it up it runs forever…until it’s full hours later. It has to be the most inefficient appliance we own. We use distilled water, purchased the filter and it still wants us to descale it all the time. If you don’t REALLY REALLY… REEEALLY want this ice, this is one that we maybe would have reconsidered before buying.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nugget ice is the best for so many reasons, but this machine tops them all! I love the fact that I can set a schedule for ice to be made by the time I get home from work. I also like that you can clean all of the lines with a light bleach solution to keep the ice clean and free of bacteria and mold.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Broke down and paid for the ice machine, and I have no regrets. The ice come quick and plentiful. Quiet when making ice and only weird noises, which are normal when defrosting itself. Will definitely invest in side tank when have more room for it

I previously had a different nugget ice maker that broke after a couple of months. It was loud and sometimes made a squeaking sound. Now this nugget ice is better quality, the machine is quiet and even can connected from an app via wi-fi. I love that I can control it when I’m not home since I’m gone some days 11+ hours for work and don’t want to leave it on the whole time but having ice ready for me after my long shifts is amazing! I also love that the app tells you when it’s time to clean/descale! Makes knowing when to do maintenance a breeze. Loving my opal ice maker so far!

We absolutely love our new GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker! Best kitchen purchase we have made in a very long time. We have a fridge that makes crushed or cubed ice, but the nugget ice maker is the bomb! Couldn’t be more pleased with this product. It’s side water feature is a must!
