Excellent addition to our kitchen.

This product is an excellent addition to our kitchen, easy to use and maintain. The Opal with water reserve is always producing fresh, crunchy, ice. The added wifi feature is perfect with Google and the smart HQ app has additional user information and settings. We also love the dimmable light feature that allows us to use the GE Opal for night light ambiance. When you need fresh, crunchy, nugget ice we highly recommend the GE Opal for any kitchen addition.

Makes perfect ice really fast

Other reviews are right: it’s easy to set up, makes great ice, and plenty of it. Only downside is it is a bit noisy. Just a background hum when the house is silent. But certainly noisier than a fridge ice maker. Also. Needs PLENTY of counter space!

Product is easy to set up, makes ice very quickly and has ample storage. Definitely get the side tank option for ease of filling. Drip tray comes in very handy so plan the right amount of space in front.

Shut off problems

Unit would shut down periodically, melts ice without remaking, and not insulated well. After 6 days returned unit…. Still awaiting credit after unit was delivered back to GE. It appears as a known issue with the ice maker.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The quality of ice it makes is top tier, but it is a little on the pricier side. Definitely a product to buy if you wanna splurge. I love mine, happy I purchased this.

What a great machine. Quiet, makes a lot of ice quickly, attractive and, unlike the dispenser version, I can run it for 2hrs or so and let it fill its bin with ice and then turn it off for the day. It insulates well and then bin full of ice melts so slowly I can continue to use the remaining ice in the bin for 12-18 more hours.
