Love Nugget Ice.

First issue was buying a Samsung refrigerator with a built in ice maker. It got old maintaining it. So I turned it off and had great justification to buy the Opal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the ice, but…

I love the ice, but it is much louder than expected. It also is constantly running. So anytime I open the drawer to get some, it immediately starts making more. It also needs descaling much more often than they tell you. I’m having to descale every 3-5 days. While it’s not hard to do, it’s definitely annoying. I’m not sure I would buy this again.

We certainly understand how annoying that would be and apologize for that matter. We'd love to offer guidance toward a better experience.
Regarding the machine constantly running, it's likely that the air vents are blocked. Ensure there is a minimum of 3" clearance on the back and sides of the unit to ensure proper airflow. Check to ensure that the side tank is not blocking either of these vents. It should be pulled forward, in line with the front of the ice maker.
Please note this ice maker as rapid production, which means a pound of ice produced per hour.
We recommend cleaning your Opal once a week. Making sure you clean your Opal ice maker frequently will keep your nugget ice tasting fresh and your machine looking great.
