Nice Ice, Maintenance Care is a Pain

Our unit is for a weekend lake home. So on for 2-3 days then sits idle for a week or two. Draining unit isn’t easy. At each start up I run through the bleach water mix and rinse. Don’t want any bacteria issues. We'll see how it goes for the summer. Only in use for a month. Ice production is good so far. No noise issues that I’ve read in other reviews, but ours is in a laundry room away from living area.

Flawed design, defective ought of the box.

Makes awesome ice. Our unit however constantly tried to defrost and made horrible squealing sounds when it did. Exchanging it for another unit but I understand that it could take several tries to get one that works properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Your icemaker may make some unfamiliar sounds that are normal. Hard surfaces can amplify these sounds. Check out page 14 to learn more: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-1000464-4.pdf. . The defrost cycle is automatic, and may take as long as 45 minutes to complete. More frequent squeaking usually requires white vinegar cleaning to remove internal mineral scale buildup.

It makes more ice than I need which is great. One issue I had was the hose for the tank was labeled wrong. But east to sort out.
