I finally pulled the trigger on this purchase and I am so glad I did. I’ve been wanting this ice maker since they first came out. It is a luxury but I work hard so I deserve it. So happy I can have nugget ice whenever I want now.

Noisy, But it Gets the Job Done

I have been really enjoying the ice maker. Two things annoy me… the noise and the wifi connection. You can hear a constant buzz when making ice and every week or so when using the app it loses its connection from the cloud and you have to remove it and re-register it. It’s still better than running to Chic-Fil-A or Sonic for good ice.

It's normal for the Opal to buzz when the water pump first turns on (the dryness causes a buzz, but once it's filled with water, the noise reduces). Plus, hard surfaces like the floor, walls, and countertops can amplify some sounds. Unit Failed after a Month and a Half

This product seemed to work fine for about a month and a half. Last night it started making a high pitched squealing noise so loud you can hear it throughout the house, and it's stopped making ice. It's full of water, no air bubbles, cleaned religiously since we received it. This morning I cleaned it again after leaving it offline all night. It's squealing again and non-functional.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

LOVE this ice maker!!

I owned a nugget ice maker before this one (not GE brand) and I enjoyed it immensely…until it randomly stopped working. I finally caved after about a year of wanting this one and bought it. I definitely do not regret it at all. It’s got a sleek design that looks fabulous on my counter. The water tank is super easy to remove and refill. The cleaning process is simple, if a little time consuming, and doesn’t require purchasing any extra things to complete. The ice bucket slides in and sits very well. Even my 7 year old son doesn’t have any problems with pulling out the bucket to get ice. I love that both the tank and the ice bucket have a pressure valve to release the water in them. It means the ice bucket doesn’t drip all over the place when it’s pulled out (my last one did!), and adding water to the tank is mess free since you don’t have to worry about water dripping all over the place.
As for the ice itself…perfect (Italian finger kiss). I couldn’t ask for better ice. They’re small and crunchy. I fill my 40 oz water bottle when I leave for work and I still have ice when I come home. My ice bucket is never empty because it refills so quickly. I enjoy the scheduled automation function and the fact that when the bucket is full, it won’t start making ice again until the bucket is pulled out and put back into place. It gets a lot of “off” (down but not powered off) time throughout the day because of this function. I feel it will help preserve the machine through its life time.

Plugged in added water and works perfectly. Was kind worried about some of the reviews. But no problem what so ever. One piece of advise use distilled water. I think that will help with the scale build up.

Love the pellet ice!

Makes ice in as little as 10 minutes. The ice starts melting in the ice bin, but it has a drain for the water to return to the water reserve. It makes ice faster than it melts and within an hour you’ve got enough ice for 4 people.

The “Good ice”

If you’re looking for the “good ice” this is it! Love all the features! The reservoir makes it easy to make ice when needed. It’s quiet and efficient. I love having ice whenever I want it as it keeps ice stored in bin at all times. Perfect fit on counter with a sleek design for those that worry about aesthetics. We love it!
