We do expect the Opal to make some noise as it operates, including gurgling, humming, etc. Sounds might also be amplified by hard surfaces like the countertops and walls. Great ice maker

The icemaker itself is a really good unit it’s a tad loud but not too bad but the only negative review I have is that it requires a cleaning once a week.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great ice, awful sound

I absolutely LOVE nugget ice and saved up to buy this machine. It worked great for a month and a half and then started this awful squeeling noise when producing ice. I've followed all directions of cleaning, the machine doesn't go into auto defrost mode so it doesn't need to defrost. I have googled and youtubed the heck out of ways to get it to stop and it won't. Super frustrating since the price tag of this machine is not cheap. It appears to be a well known problem that I would have hoped GE would have resolved or recalled by now.
Unfortuantley until the issue is fixed, I couldn't recommend this product to friends. Which is sad becuase I have all other GE applicances in my house and love them.

Best ice maker I’ve ever had

I love this unit! It’s so quiet, looks awesome and will add to the appearance of any kitchen. I’ve had others that were very loud but this one isn’t. The water tank is an added bonus. Wi-Fi is a plus. You check the status of the unit on your smart phone
