Poor machine

The quality is poor. I’ve had it no more than 1 month and the defrost constantly comes on after only 2 drops of ice. I’ve descaled it and even bought the descale solution and to no avail. Terrible machine. It was a gift so I don’t have the receipt for an exchange not knowing where they bought it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Actually it’s perfect

I was feeling so worried reading all the reviews about how this ice maker worked for a total of 3 months and then there would be issues. Or how it would start to make loud noises and eventually die. Well seriously I haven’t had any issues. No noises at all. Except for when I fill the tank with water. That’s the only time that it makes any noticeable noise. The ice maker is basically in my room, studio apartment, so the level of noise that the ice maker makes was quite a concern for me. I don’t even realize that it is still on half the time. Such a good buy. I do not have buyers remorse. I’m glad I just put forth 200 more dollars for the GE brand and got this ice maker verses a knock off or an opal ice maker machine that just isn’t built to the best quality like the GE brand. I’m am so satisfied and if your reading reviews trying to figure out if it’s worth it….just buy the ice maker and stop searching. This really is the one you want.

I received this ice maker free through an amazon program for an honest review.
This ice maker is great. I love the size of the ice nuggets. They aren't too hard but very crunchy & don't hurt my teeth. The machine uses alot of water. I don't use tap water only bottled water. I guess you can use the tap because there is a filter but I don't like the taste of it. I really like the wifi setting. I can start making the ice when I'm on my way home from work or upstairs through the app. Just make sure you have water in the tank or the reserve tank. The only downfall is the cleaning. Which needs to be done every week & the app will let you know it needs to be clean. That takes about 20 to 30 mins because you have to use bleach to cycle through the machine then you need to use water to cycle through the machine about 4 to 5 times to flush it out.

The Good Ice Life

Haven’t drank this much water in my entire life! Just having this ice maker at my disposal has made every difference in wanting to drink water. Love having our neighbors wanting to have their kids come over to swim at our pool cause we have “the good ice”. Machine is a little loud when it’s making ice, but nothing terrible. Setup was slightly tricky and time consuming but ok….totally worth it!

Ok So Far. Lots of Ice

Unit is working as advertised. This is my second unit. My original Opal was one of the earlier models and is still running but it has a few problems and the rate of ice manufacture is a little less than when it was new. The new unit has a new set of noises to get used to but once the ice making begins it become tolerable.
