My Grandkids call it crackle ice

No more running down to Sonic to buy a bag of ice that melts together on the way home. Turns any drink into a party. We love it.

Amazing ice- unreliable design

I love the ice that this produces and the ease of use, but unfortunately I am already on my second one. The first only lasted 6 months before it totally stopped cooling. The warranty process took months and they sent a refurbished unit. So far so good on the second one- but my expectations for longevity are low.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We know that would be frustrating to deal with, especially when you only had the original model for 6 months before it stopped working for you. Fantastic features

For months my wife and I had shopped for a countertop ice maker. Our freezer produces an ample amount, but they’re the regular hard ice cubes. We wanted one that made what we like to call the “good ice!” You know when you go to a store and get a soda and the ice dispenser shoots out the pellet ice, you already know it’s going to be a fantastic soda. After looking up, “the good ice” we found the he Opal ice machine. We’ve been thrilled ever since. We now have a very nice ice/coffee bar. We LOVE it!!!

We haven't had it long. But, so far we love it! We love "Sonic" ice and that is what it makes. Though the wifi was useless at first. But, you can use this feature to set a schedule and more. So, great feature!

Middle of the road

We love the ice that it produces, but not sure of a few discomfort things for the ice and price. We find it pretty noisy. Its located in our kitchen (open type floor plan) and it can be heard though out the open area. It also make squeaking noises at times that sound like it needs to be oiled. When getting the ice out of the ice bucket, water leaks down the front of the unit into the drip tray. Not sure how the stainless will hold up over time and the tray constantly has water in it. We are a family of 5 and use a good bit of ice throughout the day.

We're sorry to know you are not completely satisfied with the level of noise the machine makes along with the water leaking and squeaking sounds. We definitely understand the frustration this may cause.
The ice maker may make sounds that are not familiar but are considered normal. Hard surfaces such as the floor, walls and countertops can amplify these sounds. The squeaking sound can be heard when the Opal is in need of defrosting as well. More frequent squeaking requires white vinegar cleaning to remove any buildup if needed.
In regard to the water leaking down, during normal operation, condensation forms on the bottom surface of the ice bin. This water will sometimes collect and drip down the lower front surfaces of the ice maker. We are confident in the quality of the dip tray provided and would not worry about the water diminishing the finish. We are always looking for ways to improve our quality and design and can forward your concern to our design team.

Love the chewy ice!!

Makes ice quickly, quietly, and I love the chewy ice, just like Sonic ice! We don't even use the fridge ice any more. More pricey than other ice makers I've bought, but you get what you pay for. This even has a cleaning selection.
