We bought our first ice maker 5 years ago when it was the FirstBuild Opal version. We loved it then, but really love the new GE Profile version with side tank. It functions well, is quieter than the previous version, and has a more attractive look and feel to it. The pull-out drawer has a stop-catch so it won't fall out when open, which is a new feature that appeals to us.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a wonderful ice maker. Worth every penny, especially if you're an ice snob who thinks ice pellets are superior to all other types of ice!

Worked ok for a month and a half...

This product seemed to work fine for about a month and a half. Tonight it's making a high pitched squealing noise so loud you can hear it throughout the house and it's stopped making ice. It's full of water, cleaned religiously since we turned it on, and now just sounds downright dangerous. We unplugged it out of FEAR that it is having a serious malfunction!
No idea what to do but hopefully I can get a replacement.

Love the ice, hate the noise

Purchased the 2.0 after our first model (which we replaced once through warranty) died just days after our 1 year warranty ended. The new location of the fan in the back is nice, but it sure seems more noisy than our first model and lets out an occasional “horrifying” scream. Also a little disappointed with the smaller side tank vs. the first. Love the ice, but was sure to buy the extended 5 year warranty.

The whole family loves this ice machine. It encourages all of us, 5 year old and 7 year old, to drink more. My 7 year old was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and eating the small pellets helps during highs.

Absolutely obsessed with this ice maker! Easy to set up and use! We love the side water tank feature. We are able to have fresh, crunchy ice on demand! Couldn’t be happier with this purchase!

Nugget Ice is the best!

I like my ice maker and I knew that it would be large but it does fit under my cabinets. Makes ice quickly but it is a little loud.
