Y'all. I've wanted an ice machine for years and when I read the reviews I knew I had to have the Opal. She doesn't disappoint. Seriously this is the best purchase I've made in forever. It's the best ice, not big and not small but crunchy. Not hard though and won't break your teeth. In fact you may find yourself drinking more ice water and that's a good thing!

second generation even better

We owned the first generation Opal ice maker, and it was very good. Liked it so much, got a second one. The newer one made some good improvements - such as being quieter, less "squeaks" and noise when making ice. Fit and finish seems a little more refined. The ice bin appears to be a new design so it is less likely to pull all the way out by accident. So far so good!

Best way to get the good ice!

Love my Opal. Setup was easy and fairly quick. It makes ice quickly and the hopper will keep ice frozen for a long time. Connecting to wifi and making a schedule is the best part. I set a schedule to have ice ready for dinner time. My only small quibble would be the noise the machine makes when running a little louder than I was expecting but it still is not objectionable.

Puffy, crispy, chewable ice!

Finally, I can chew ice without destroying my teeth. Chewing crushed ice or cubes (!) ruins enamel and will make your dentist yell at you. These ice puffs are designed for safely chewing. A godsend for those of us with an ice chewing habit. Highly recommended.
