Even better than anticpated

Buying an ice maker, you kind of know what you are getting into, so there isn't a lot to weigh in on as long as it makes ice. A couple things I do enjoy about this particular ice maker, confirming that the right choice was made: It connects to wifi and you can turn it on/start making ice from the App; it makes ice relatively quickly, so even as you are using the ice, it replenishes quickly enough that we didnt find ourselves waiting for more ice to come out; the biggest surprise was how much ice it made using the water inside and the side tank. I was expecting to have to refill after several uses, and the tank was only about half way depleted. This was one area that was much better than I expected.

Very Cool Idea

This is one of the coolest ideas to come along in a long time. We use nearly a full tub of ice daily and love the soft chewy ice. We just wish we had bought it sooner. Haven't needed to go to Sonic since we bought it. We nearly bought the previous model, but we're much happier with the updated Opal 2.0 model.

Great ice, quick but sometimes noisy

I love this for what it is. Great nugget ice which we love, quick production of ice too. But it makes really weird grinding noises at times when filling. It didn't do that until we added the recommended filter. Also it makes a whirring sound that is a bit noisy when making ice.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hello - It's so great to know that you're loving your Opal icemaker! We do apologize that it can be noisy sometimes, though. This can be distracting and we're happy to offer some insight.
The icemaker will make a grinding or buzzing sound when it is dry, but once it fills with water, the sound is reduced significantly. Also, the whirring sound is the condenser fan operating when the icemaker is first turned on. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls, and countertops can amplify these sounds. Thankfully, these noises are normal and do not indicate an issue. I choose this ice maker because it was advertised as being good for those who chew ice. I picked up the habit during the COVID lockdowns. So far so good. This is perfect because the cubes are small, soft and easy to chew. Perfect size.
