When Opal is in need of defrosting, it may start to squeak as ice starts to build up around the mechanisms. The defrost cycle is automatic and may take 30-45 minutes. You can see other normal sounds associated with your machine here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=35276

I have always loved the “nugget” ice. I eat a lot of ice that I was buying by the bag from a popular fast food restaurant. I wanted a machine of my own. I bought it for myself for Christmas. I didnt know it s we Lund be so popular with everyone else though!! I highly recommend buying the ice maker with the side tank or you will be constantly having to fill the main reservoir under the ice bucket. I’m very happy with my purchase, but hope it lasts for many years.
