Setup took about 45 minutes but after that, machine started making full bin of ice within 30 minutes. Love the recycling of ice as well, saves water!

Day 2 fail

Second day of ownership, the ice maker continues to ask for water. Try all the troubleshooting, got it to make ice one more time. Now it’s either making ice (but not) or asking for water still. This is going back.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello. We appreciate you reaching out to us with this concern, though we truly hate to hear the Opal is not making ice normally for you. We know how frustrating an issue with a new appliance would be, and this isn’t the quality ownership experience we want to provide for you. We’d like to assist.

The Opal is meant to start producing ice about 15 to 30 minutes after it’s started, and will continue until the bin is full or the water has run out. If you have not been able to solve this by filling the unit with water, you may want to review the manual to ensure everything is set up as it should be. If you’d like to view it, the manual is available here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-1000464-4.pdf . The manual has information on getting started using the model, troubleshooting, and (if you think you may need to take advantage of it) your limited warranty on page 19. Resetting the Opal by disconnecting it from power for 3 to 4 hours can also help in some cases.

Absolute Worst Application "Smart HQ

Love the Opal 2.0 Ice Machine, but the software used to monitor and control scheduling really, seriously, takes away from the overall experience.
I had to take my first Opal 2.0 back as it had a bad ice level sensor right out of the box. No problem with that. My problem is, I installed the Opal in Smart HQ! After getting the second Opal 2.0 home I also installed it in Smart HQ! Big problem, you ca not remove an appliance from Smart HQ so now I have two Opals showing up and I'm getting emails stating the one I don't have any more is off line.
The application Smart HQ is anything but smart. I can be in a sub-menu and just hit Home and it wants to communicate with the Ice Machine...well that take 10 to 15 seconds and it does that every time you want to go somewhere in the app. WHY?
