The Opal line of ice makers fromf GE Appliances are fine examples of what portable and counter-top ice makers should be. The price is a little higher than some but well worth the investment. Great ice, easy to refill water, and much more.

I tried 2 other ice makers before I decided to try this one. What a difference a good quality product makes. It is quiet, has a large bin, an extra water reservoir and a great front panel. The lights dim, it always shows what is going on and it has an app! You can schedule it off and on whenever you want. But the best thing is the “good” ice. Easy to chew, makes drink colder, just the best!!

Great ice, side tank fails to work sometimes

The ice from this product is great. However, it frequently says "add water" when the side tank is full. (The hose is level per the manual, and not kinked. May be small air bubbles in the line. Sometimes jostling the whole unit "fixes" things temporarily.)
The documentation is unclear in many spots. I'm been a software engineer for three decades, and am not easily confused. I doubt anyone at GE has watched a user try to set up the machine while following the manual.
I would recommend this to a friend!

To check if everything is working properly, we recommend running a cleaning cycle. If the motor cycles water properly, the issue is likely with the water line and you can check that it is flat and not kinked again.
