Defective ice maker!

Please do not buy these icemakers break down and the replacement is either none or a refurbished unit! Please check the Better Business Bureau regarding this opal icemaker and the company behind it they have a letter “F”! Do not spend your money

Worst warranty I have experienced

Please know our appliances come with limited one-year warranty. We'll either replace your product with a new or remanufactured product, or refund the purchase price of the product at GE Appliances sole discretion. Some sounds are normal. Normal noises typically cease after 10 to 45 minutes within the ice making cycle. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls and countertops can amplify these sounds. If the ice maker is making a continuous grinding noise, this is not normal. If it is doing this, please contact Opal Support for service at myopalservice.com or call 866-907-6718, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, EST.

If your ice maker is not working, make sure the ice bin is pushed all the way in place. We suggest trying to reset the ice maker by unplugging the unit for 3-4 hours. If this doesn't help, Opal Support will be able to assist.

We got this ice maker and it wasn’t cheap, it worked fine for a while then stopped working, and I did the cleaning as recommended.

Machine broke quickly

We received the ice maker and followed all set up instructions. The ice maker worked for 6 days before it broke and no longer created ice. We tried all recommended fixes and the machine was deemed ineffective. Super frustrating for the price and excitement around the product.

Avoid! embarrassingly short lifespan.

This thing was great for a few months, but like a ton of others, mine stopped working consistently after a year (just after the warranty expired) and now completely stopped working about 18 months in. Avoid this ice maker. Don’t just take my word for it, do a quick Reddit search and see what I mean.
If i had a Time Machine, the third thing I’d do is March this broken down piece of junk into First Build and find the lead engineer responsible for this atrocity. I’d like him or her to walk me through each piece from the condenser coils that seem to maintain surface of the sun temps, to the dissipator wings behind the fan that appear to have melted, right down to the silly water tank that doesn’t seem to ever empty because it can’t get any air. I’d want to know what was going on the day they signed off on this design. Was it Thunder Day? Did the engineers have somewhere important they’d rather be? Guess we will never know. Stay away from this appliance unless you want to dedicate days to trying to fix this thing, inevitably ending in disappointment, regret, and one of the worlds largest paperweights. Buyer beware? No, buyer run like your rear end is on fire.

Great when it’s running well

When it works it’s great but the one I’ve had for 2 years is making screeching noises equivalent to nails on a chalkboard and leaking. The amount of time and effort it takes to clean it is ridiculous. If I do purchase another machine it would be my third in 4 years, at this point it’s probably worth looking at other alternatives.

Broken!!!!

We loved it until 6 months down the road. It makes a nasty loud squeling noise for several minutes straight. It gets so loud it must be unplugged. After you unplug it. And plug it back in. It only takes 5 minutes and same thing over again
