Better than the original design. It's a bit louder than the first edition but it makes ice faster and easier to clean.

That Nugget Ice

The Opal nugget ice machine is a small counter top appliance that delivers the famous nugget ice in 30+ minutes. I say 30 because after only 20 minutes the ice hasn't started quite forming fully and can still be slightly wet. The wifi feature was buggy at first, but seems to have sorted itself out. I'm not sure about the optional side tank feature as it requires you to fiddle with and reposition some of the tubing at the back. Would prefer just the machine itself.

I like having the side tank with the stand. Flush buttons are nice. This is a lot quieter than my first Opal.

We love our ice maker!! After our freezer ice maker broke, we were buying ice from chick-fil-a weekly. That became a pain so we purchased the opal. Life changing! Love the ability to set a schedule and boom you have ice! No more chick-fil-a ice here! We have our own nugget ice now!! Just wish it kept the ice frozen!

Best Ice!

This ice is the best! A couple things I wish were different are how often it needs cleaned- the ice starts tasting funny after a few days and the machine needs cleaned... didn’t expect it to be this often and it’s a little bit of a process to clean it. Also the hq app constantly says no internet when I have full internet- so I have to close out and try again just to chance one thing on a schedule, and often times even closing out of it, it does the same thing- it’s super frustrating! Am I glad I have it? Yes. Would I spend this amount on it knowing what I know now? No!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
