Terrible, overpriced, unusable product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I give it 3 stars because it does, in fact, make ice. I take away 2 stars because after only a couple of months of having it it will sporadically make an AWFUL noice to the point where I have to unplug it. We put it in the laundry room so it can make noise when it feels like it and we just know that there are no screech owls in the vicinity- it's just the ice maker. I tried to contact the company and got the runaround about trying to fix/replace it to the point where it was just easier to deal with the noise.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It was great for the whole week that it worked

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I were so happy to receive this ice maker as a wedding gift. We absolutely loved it for the whole week that it worked. Now it will no longer make ice. It constantly says "making ice" and then "add water" even when it is full of water. We have tried making sure the tubes aren't stopped up and have cleaned it multiple times. Unfortunately, at this point we will be in contact about the warranty for our machine. We are really disappointed with the quality of this expensive machine, in particular because it was given to us as a thoughtful gift.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We'd like to assist your Opal no longer making ice. The first thing we recommend is to make sure the ice bin is pushed all the way in place. If that doesn't help, the next step we recommend is to reset the Opal by unplugging the unit for 3 to 4 hours. We will be reaching out to you via email to gather additional information. Perfect Nugget Ice!

I have been looking at the Opal for over a year and finally gave in and bought it. Why did I wait so long???!!! It was very easy to set up and made the first nuggets within 20 minutes. It is very quiet and looks great on my countertop. Our friends are ordering one for their house after "experiencing" it this past weekend!

LOVE the ice!

I have always been aware of which restaurants have the best ice! Now, I’m able to have as much ice as I want at home. This ice is the best! Easily able to be chewed, although don’t tell your dentist. :-) My whole family loves this ice machine. We are now very well hydrated!! Another review had mentioned that this ice maker made a noise or rattled, I think. We just adjusted the position of the water reservoir on the side and it went away.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simply the Best!

This little ice maker is great, and I know that it will last for many years to come. I bought it to compliment my new espresso machine, to mimic my favorite coffee shop in town. This ice does that job extremely well, the purified ice from my Aquafina water makes awesome ice. This purified crunch ice is similar to the Cofee bean ice, amazing!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pellet ice

Great ice maker, love the pellet ice! I only wish the ice would evenly spread in the container. It piles up in the back and won’t fill the bucket unless you regularly move it forward. I push it to the front and sides so it has a “pit” to fill into.

The Holy Grail of Ice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would drive to certain gas stations just so I could get nugget ice. Now I don't have to! I can have it at home anytime I want. This ice machine does take up a fair amount of counter space but it is so worth it!
The water reservoir holds a decent amount of water, ensuring I can keep my ice machine going throughout the day even on the hottest days making fresh ice.
The large holding tub is perfect for holding large amounts of ice. So far, we have not run out of ice. The machine can keep up with myself and my family.
I am extremely pleased with this ice maker and so happy we have it. It's easy to use, makes the best ice quickly and replenishes fast as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!
