First Day - Installed and making the good ice!

We received our Opal 2.0 and installed it today so these are my first impressions.
Make sure the wall you put the unit by isn't against and office or bedroom; this is an ice maker, so it does have a hum and some vibration. It’s not horrible but not whisper quiet either.
Go through the first cleaning before you get the unit settled and make sure you write down the info on the back before you settle the appliance into its final position. (Wi-Fi password, Model number, serial number)
The drain hose on the unit should be longer, it will not reach the edge of the counter for a bucket from front to back.
The manual could use a little more effort, especially the section on setting up the application and Wi-Fi. If you were smart and bought Opal 2.0 you will want to download the SmartHQ app for GE Appliances and then follow the instructions in the app.
It would be helpful for GE to make a how-to video or setting up the unit for first use and ship it with a QR code for people to watch for setup. I've seen this a lot with other products, and it make life 1000x better.

Over the past few years in hospital. The small ice was always something I loved. I had been wanting my own machine and couldn't really find one. We spent money on bags from different local restaurants. My husband bought this machine as a Christmas gift for me this year and I couldn't be happier!

Easy to set up and ice is fantastic

The device was really easy to set up and get started. Once you clean it out, you will have ice within an hour. Family has been very happy with this appliance and we would definitely recommend it. We like that it recycles the water from the melted ice so you won’t fill it as often if you are not using it much. The app that you can use to monitor it isn’t too difficult to setup.

I’d love to see it compatible with a water line. Keeping the tank full is not a huge deal but it would be more convenient. I’d like to see an easier way to drain it

Why did we wait so long!

We absolutely love our ice maker! My husband and I each bought one for a Christmas surprise this year without the other knowing. It makes plenty of ice for our family of four who are all ice lovers. Easy to install and just a humming noise while making ice. The ice also stays well in a ziplock in the freezer. You will not regret this purchase!
