My brother bought this for us for Christmas and it didn't work. The door to put the DVDs in wouldn't open so it was returned to the store.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this for my husband. It hookup and was ready to use in less than 5 minutes. He loves it. I small and fits in my entertainment cabinet perfectly.

Only negative is that the top of the metal case vibrates during operation.
Placing an object on top of the unit eliminates the vibration noise.

I just got this a few weeks ago and it was easy to install to my television. After that I put a movie in and it was so clear I just started watching movies all evening long.
