Nice looking range hood.

Had to modify our upper cabinet to install this hood but we got that done. It unfortunately is quite loud on the lowest setting. Works well though and certainly upgraded our kitchen.

Attractive, effective, but disappointing

The real rating is 3/5. The design is sleek, clean, and attractive.
The range hood was installed today. The 1959 cabinet to which it is attached presented a bit of a challenge since blocking needed to be installed to give the screws something substantial to screw into. One disappointment, as mentioned by another reviewer, was the discrepancy between the product guide indicating that the hood is to be hardwired and finding that it actually has a plug. I also agree that the fan speeds do not appear to demonstrate an appreciable difference among them. Frankly, it would have been infinitely more helpful to have two speeds for the fan and to use the 3rd speed button for a higher intensity light. The LED strip only provides adequate light (better suited as a kitchen "night light") for cooking, especially if one wants to see the bottom of any pots on the rear burners. I am hoping I will be able to find a replacement strip that provides greater illumination. I have a hard time believing that anyone who actually cooks would have chosen this level of lighting as the only option.

I do not want to dry my hair and cook at the same

My unit is installed as ductless. The fans are loud and you can’t distinguish between the speed. The exhaust fan blows forward and blows on my forehead and top of my head. I’m 5’4” if I was a few inches taller it would blow in my face. I’m looking for a way to divert the air flow to the right or upward so I’m not in the line of fire.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

NEW VENT SYSTEM

I love my new range hood. Previously, I had a microwave over the range with vent system. The UC-B018 is very handsome, well made and works great. My only complaint is I wish the lights were brighter. I believe that this has already been addressed on the newest more expensive models. Other than that I love how it works and looks!!

No more smoke alarms UC-B018

Impressed with this unit. Replaced under the cabinet microwave and we are so happy with how well this unit clears the smoke and smells with light cooking. For a household with a lot of frying or heavy cooking the PS18 may be the better fit. The later fits my family so I will gift this unit to my mother. It is convertible so it can be recirculating or can vent to the outside. It came with 2 baffle filters that go in the dishwasher . If you need more help with odors the charcoal filters can be purchased and added on . It’s seems to be a good quality unit and it matches my appliances nicely.
