I would give it 4.5 stars. It is super powerful. A little frightening how powerful it is compared to the junk blenders we've used in the past. The only reason it is not 5 stars is that it isn't dishwasher safe. That's fine but I made the mistake of using a typical sponge with an abrasive side to clean some bits that didn't get cleaned by the recommended process. I ended up scratching up the inside of the container. It made it a bit cloudy to look through. I wish the instructions would have cautioned against the use of abrasives for cleaning. Other than that, we are very happy with the unit. I would recommend this unit, just be careful cleaning it.

5200 Still going years later

I have had a Vitamix 5200 for at least 10 years. I was considering purchasing a new machine as I want want one that will work with the food processor adaptor. After a lot of research and my 5200 still working great, I'm thinking (for now) I will hold off and keep using what I have. Maybe I can give this to my daughter and it will give me the excuse to buy the new Ascent!

I don’t understand all the hype.... I actually liked my Ninja better for thick smoothies. The vitamix blade jams up easily if there isn’t enough liquid in the bottom.

Great Blender with some room for improvement

I love my Vitamix, because it is so powerful, however — if I flip the switch to high speed, Sometimes it moves on the counter. It also has a hard time with thicker smoothies. That said, with enough water and without switching to the high speed, it does a great job. I do wish these problems could be fixed however, especially for the price.

I purchased this blender in January 2016, and I absolutely love it! I had borrowed a family members before I purchased mine--same model 5200 Standard--and I was instantly sold the very first time I used it. I was shocked at how quickly this blender blends greens and then frozen fruits all within under 30 seconds. The clean up is super simple and easy to maintain. I would highly recommend this blender to anyone who is looking for a blender that will last. Even though the price is steep, it is definitely worth it! I love how this blender can make a thick smoothie or an almost like juice smoothie if you add more liquids.
