I owned a 5000 model for over 20 years every day and it finally gave out on us. We bought this model because it had the 64 ounce container. We love it and would give it 5 stars but it is exceptionally loud. I've read that is becuase the motor is upgraded to a more powerful
one but the trade off is noise.

My daughter moved out and wanted a vitamix like mine. I decided instead I could get a new one of the color I liked and she could have the old one. Love it. I have 3 minor complaints. One is the lid. I hate the way it does on so I just sit it on top and hold it there. The other one is that the canister that comes with it is too tall to fit under cabinets and you can’t get it with shorter one so you have to buy it separately and it’s not cheap. Third, I wish canister was glass even though I know it would be heavy. But it’s a great blender and well made.

Which company still made products to last a lifetime however, that’s not good for the business so above my Vitamix though. I guess seven years will have to be good enough warranty.

I was expecting this to be much “fancier” and able to blend without so much stopping and stirring. I think I bought the lowest model, so maybe that’s why. But it’s so expensive and I always heard how amazing Vitamix blenders are. I’ve been disappointed so far. I bought it mostly for smoothies. I wanted a better, smoother consistency. I was hoping I could push a button, walk away, and it would blend. In reality, I have to turn up the blending speed manually, very slowly, to make sure the blades don’t just free spin at the bottom. I have to stop around 5 times to stir everything and get the blades to “catch” again. It DOES give the consistency I love at the end. But it takes way more finagling than I anticipated.

Because it is a high performance blender, the Vitamix is designed to be run on the highest speed your unit has for the majority of the recipes you are blending. Therefore, please make sure you are processing on the highest speed to get the best performance from your product. Additionally, thicker blends will require the assistance of the tamper. The tamper directs food downward into the blades in order to prevent air pockets from forming, which occurs most commonly with thicker blends. This brand is very expensive!!…. but it WORKS!! Really really well. I had bought a much less expensive, different brand that said it did just as good and would make things smooth and all that marketing stuff, BUT it did not work well and in less than 6 weeks it stopped working. That money was down the drain and it never really did what I needed. THIS VITAMIX is worth EVERY penny!!!
I have a rare condition call Achalasia. My esophagus no longer moves food down into my stomach. So what I eat must be in a puréed or fine chop in sauces or gravy’s. If not, the food gets stuck midway down my esophagus and that can be painful and causes violent regurgitation and that food never reaches my stomach. I’ve lost 45+lbs. It’s been a rough year to say the least! I’m still figuring it all out, but getting this unit and getting recipes from vitamix has helped me find my new way of eating, for survival, as well as helping me to make things that are puréed but taste good so I can enjoy food again. Thank you Vitamix, thank you for the recipes, thank you for a machine that works really really well and gives me opportunities to create a meal that I can look forward to eating. This unit is not just a smoothie maker. It’s my life line.
If you are someone with swallowing issues and need puréed foods…. DO NOT HESITATE!!!…To invest in a vitamix!! It will make your life easier!!! It will give you options that other blenders can’t give you! It can be your life saver.
