Blends amazingly fast and smoothly, works great for with frozen/icy smoothies, nut butters, and fast, simple self-cleaning. It feels solid and has stood up to use thus far, and I have no doubt it will continue to be in my kitchen years from now.
I will note, it's definitely not quiet, but that's definitely a tradeoff I'm willing to make.
Pros: Speed of Service, Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Power

Excellent blender

This blender is recommended by chefs and pros because of it's quality and power. I've been using it to make smooth, creamy vegetable soups and the online recipe book shows the limitless options of what you can do with the blender.
This is the second blender of similar stature that we have purchased from Vitamix. We purchased the first blender 12 years ago, and when that blender recently died we purchased this new blender. The base of this new blender feels considerably lighter than the base of the old blender, and this new blender certainly cannot handle the same tasks that the old blender once did. The new blender has abruptly stopped working a few times already while making banana ice cream. After a prolonged cooldown period, of 15-30min, it has come back to life. But the old blender would rarely do this before it died completely. Aside from banana ice cream, the new blender still handles most tasks with ease.

Hi there! Our newer model are more sensitive to overheating and will shut down quicker to protect the motor. That being said, make sure you take the machine to its highest speed quickly and use the tamper during these tough blends, this will prevent the motor for getting too hot and turning off.

Burned up making a Vitamix recipe!

Bought our first one in late 2020 and had to return it within 10 days with a burned up motor making protein shakes. Second died today making ice cream with a cup of frozen strawberries, following a recipe on the Vitamix site. It shut off, smelled awful, and when it was turned on about 20 minutes later, it sounds like a wind-up toy car. Barely more than 4 years of making smoothies and protein shakes, a few other recipes. It performed well enough with a few headaches here are there along the way where we had to add more liquid and shake or stir it manually to get it going again. Nothing like the chaos it was today. Too dang expensive to die making a recipe made for it and something so simple as milk and frozen strawberries. Come on, man. I am so disappointed in this thing.

Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was about to overheat. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor. We have also included some general blending tips below for your reference.
Check Your Speed When starting the machine, make sure the Variable Speed Dial is turned to 1(or, the ‘Stop’ position). Turn the machine on and turn the Variable Speed Dial from 1 to the highest speed your Vitamix has within five seconds. The Vitamix machine performs best on High speed to pulverize food and process thick mixtures.
Check Your Quantity When processing denser ingredients, like cooked potatoes, cooked rice, or cooked beans, this creates a heavier than normal load on the machine. You may want to consider reducing the food quantity placed in the container by half (depending on how much food you started with) as well as adding a bit of liquid.
Follow Order of Ingredients Place ingredients into the container in the order listed in your Vitamix recipe. If working with your own recipe, start with a base of liquid (water, juice, milk), followed by softer ingredients (tofu, yogurt), then juicier fruits and vegetables (grapes, cucumbers), firmer fruits and vegetables (apples, carrots), frozen ingredients (frozen berries), and finally ice. If you use protein powders, they should follow the ice.
Use the Tamper If ingredients are not freely circulating, the tamper can be used to improve the flow of food. While the machine is running and with the lid firmly in place, insert the tamper through the lid plug opening and begin working it in the four corners of the container. As the food travels around the side of the container, the tamper directs it right into the blades. If there is an air pocket around the blade, the tamper will release the air pocket and create a continuous flow of food through the blades.
Dreamed of owning a Vitamix for the better part of the last 10 years, I had to go with a ninja when I first moved out because I was starting (pretty for broke). Made a personal promise of waiting for the ninja to fail and it never did, I finally became a dad and that was my excuse because I needed to make baby food and successfully convinced my wife that the ninja would not emulsify good enough. That said, in my first 3 meals blending with the Vitamix i have triggered the “overheat” every single time, something that never stopped the ninja and wouldn't burn it even when I wanted it to has stalled every single cook by 15+ mins because the ninja cannot handle blending down rice and ground beef. Other than that, it looks amazing in the counter. It is Ferrari red!
Pros: Texture Quality, Durability

HI! We do know our machines can let out a bit of a roar when blending, however, Vitamix machines meet the regulatory requirements that may be statutory in their country of sale, including sound levels.
