This blender does everything promised. I researched for over a year, read reviews, over and over, this is a big deal for me financially. I was anxious over spending the money. Now the I have, I use this everyday, I am not disappointment, I don't know why I waited so long.
Pros: Easy to clean, Durability, Quality, Easy to use, Value, It's Many Uses, Power
I am an avid weight lifter and gym rat. I wanted a replacement for my cumbersome Cuisinart food processor to make high protein pancake and waffle mixes, and my hand shaker for whey protein drinks along with a simple machine to produce various special dough mixes along with a litany of general kitchen meal prep functions like grinding herbs and spices, making sauces like Jamaican Jerk marinade and of course, adult beverages. The food processor works but it has small capacity, no pour spout, liquids leak out from multiple areas during and after mixing It has a massive footprint with all the attachments and parts required to make it work. It's also not very effective for dough, useless for blending whey powder and the waffle and pancake mixes are a mess. It's also incredibly annoying to clean and dry and it takes up half of a base cupboard - I plan to relegate the Cuisinart to the basement.
After considerable research, and talking to some folks at the gym along with a couple of professional bodybuilders I know, I decided on this refurbished Vitamix blender which combines power, versatility, simplicity and effectiveness along with durability. It reminds me of a far better designed big brother to the old Oster blender my mom had in the 1970's.
My first impression after making high protein waffle batter today was "I should have bought this machine years ago". The Vitamix has massive power, is fully functional for my needs and is simple to clean. It whips my whey powder and ice/water mix instantly with no lumps and gives it a bit of froth. My hand shaker for the whey powder, ice and water as a real pain because it leaked and was hard to clean because the powder stayed lumpy and stuck to the sides of the shaker. Problems solved with the Vitamix.
Really happy I bought such a solid powerhouse with so much versatility that is made in the USA, has a 5 year warranty and arrived with amazing speed and I loved the red color!
In summary, this is a great machine and I look forward to years of productive cooking and simple cleaning down the road. Cheers!
Pros: Easy to clean, Speed of Service, Precise Textures, Durability, Quality, Easy to use, Value, It's Many Uses, Product features, Power
After a month of thinking about it, I finally decided to spend the money and upgrade my blender. My only regret is not upgrading sooner!! This thing is amazing! I've never had smoothies this creamy and smooth before. I only have to use half the amount of water I used in my old blender to make it the same consistency which makes the taste much better and not watered down. If you're thinking about spending the money, go for it, you won't regret it.
I've had the Vitamix for a couple months now. Here are some pros and cons.
Pros: Great for smoothies and soups. Blend till very smooth. Simple interface.
Cons: Very noisy. So hard to reach the bottom of the container to empty; ends up wasting lots of food. Doesn't handle thicker mixtures very well. Frozen feature not very good.
Conclusion: Generally a decent machine, but definitely not worth the price.
1/2 I bought a Vita-Mix Super 5000 about 12 or 13 years ago. I have always try to buy the best for my family. And after falling victim of this late night informacials, that want to convince you that their products are good for you, go as far as to insult your intelligence. They plant the seed of doubt in you system in such a way, so as to compromise your ability to turn a (rehostat) or as it's called, a speed selector to adjust the right texture for your specific need. They continue to talk in circles until they convince you to buy. But I learned my lesson and this time followed my intelligence and good instincts, and that is when I bought this monster of a machine. The Vita Mix super 5000. (Go to 2/2)
Pros: Programability, Speed of Service, Texture Quality, Durability, Easy to use, Versatility, Product features, Power
I purchased the Vitamix 5200 because I was hosting a smoothie party and needed something stronger/bigger than what I had. I was NOT disappointed at all. This machine is amazing. I've used it several times since then and what impresses me the most is the design of the base where the carafe sits. The bumpers make the fit perfect without force. It's a no-brainer to operate also. My only regret now is that I didn't get the model that makes soup :-(
Pros: Easy to clean, Durability, Quality, Easy to use, Power
We have owned a Vitamix blender for many years and have been very satisfied with it. We also received great service on it, the few times that was needed. Recently we purchased a new model the 5200 Standard. It continues the same great tradition. I use it so often, I could hardly cook without it.
