I like almost everything about this unit. Works well with my attachments. The only two things I don't care for are that I have a really big yard and I can't trim it all on one charge. If I get a second battery down the road, that won't be a problem. Second, I wish they would design the trigger so that it felt more like a gas trimmer when you pull it instead of having that long delay to get going. You get used to it after a while. Other than that, this thing is super quiet and works great!
The trimmer is a solid built. It would have been a 5 star if they have a lock-down system for the trigger-start after the trimmer started spinning. Because they don't have this lock-down system. It is very tiring on the hand constantly holding on the trigger-start while trimming. It would also been very helpful to list all attachments in the booklet that this trimmer could handle. But don't have this information. Left me in the dark, and I had to get the information from else where.
I generally LOVE this trimmer. It has done well with all the attachments I previously had for my gas trimmer, aside from the blower attachment. Hedge, edger, pole-saw, tiller... work great. My only problem is that the listed part for the spool cover (aka "bump knob") is "34108178A" in the manual - but NOBODY carries it (and it isn't even listed in Greenworks' parts directory. Therefore - it's life as a string trimmer is about to come to an abrupt halt :(
This model is pretty good. My yard is taken care of easily, with much fuss. I have 2 batteries and that enoiugh for 5000sq ft. The only issue I had was with the trimmer head spool cap, eventually it got damaged. I was able to purchase another and I'm back up and running.
(The trimmer head assembly is item number:31110836 You can order this from the supplier at 1-888-909-6757 or through our third party parts site here: - https://greenworks.ordertree.com/ ) Hope this helps some users.
I have had the 80V cordless string trimmer for about a year now and it is definitely worth the price. I can take care of my 3 acres in almost half the time, though I do recommend having at least 2 batteries, I have 3 total. The only downside is that the push feed on the trimmer head finally broke and I can't seem to find one easily accessible that works with it.
We bought this last year to go with our new 80 Volt self propelled lawn mower.... I didn't mention it in the mower review, but the handle folds down and you can hang it.... Hang up the trimmer and no more messy garage... It peforms as well as a gas powered trimmer without fighting to start it... No more gas cans in our garage.... If my Yamaha could run on these batteries, I wouldn't have any gas in the garage.. I got the extra spool for quick changes, and I can do all my yard on one battery... Do away with gas and jump on board the Greenworks 80 Volt train... I love my Ryobi 18 Volt leaf blower, as I do all my 23 Ryobi Tools, wrong review... But when it dies, or when somebody gives me one, I will switch to a 80 Volt Greenworks 580 CFM Leaf Blower, Hint to Greenworks….
