I bought this exact combo a couple of years ago and am pleased with the performance. What confounds and annoys me about this unit is the cumbersome process to re-load line onto the trimmer head. Why doesn't Greenworks offer a Quick Wind Head for this unit like the do for the 60V unit. If they do make such an upgrade, it is well hidden on their website. Because of this issue, I'll be abandoning my Greenworks 80V string trimmer for a competitors model which offers both a manual and a powerload feature that does not require disassembly of the trimmer head. I also have a Greenworks 80V blower and an 80V pole saw which I'm happy with so at least I'll still have a use for the battery.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is the best trimmer I’ve ever used. Weight wise, it feels lighter to me than a gas trimmer and it’s far quieter, obviously. It comes with a shoulder strap and helps disperse the weight of the trimmer over more of your body. The refill is easy to do and this thing trims better than any trimmer I’ve used or had in my life before. I got the mower when I got this and I typically use two batteries between the two machines. I use one in the trimmer and take care of the entirety of the yard. Then I take that battery out and put it in my mower and the battery and a half (on average) lasts for my entire yard. There seems to be less vibration on this compared to gas trimmers and I can’t wait to use it again, honestly. I’ve started looking forward to mowing and trimming my lawn.

Pros: Gets the job done! Well made, powerful and I can share the battery with my Greenworks lawnmover and blower (both of which I love). Cons: It is quite heavy, if it wasn't for the strap which I wear across my chest, I wouldn't be able to use it for long. And the other con, the string rolls do not last long. I have only used it weekly for a month, and already I am looking online for replacement spools.

This trimmer is quiet and efficient. Seems to be frugal with line use. lighter than my motorized model

Hello Skip B,
We are sorry to hear the problem you are experiencing with trimmer line. We would like to make some suggestions to improve your experience. Trimmer line usually breaks because of line crowding. This occurs when the trimmer head is held too close to hard objects that can break the line such as brick, cement, rocks, or fencing. Keeping the line at full extension, and not crowding it, reduces line breakage problems. We suggest cutting with the bare tip of the line because this is the section which moves at the highest speed. Do not let it hit into grass. Ease the line into vegetation, bit by bit from the edge. Line can also get wrapped around thick vegetation and become tangled, breaking the line. Listen to the sound of the machine and when the line slows down; back off out of the grass. Hope these suggestions help however, if you still have questions or an unresolved issue after going through this troubleshooting guide please contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934.

Very pleased with the performance, although I haven’t used it much yet. It’s fairly heavy even with the strap, so I had to stop after a bit. It tears through vegetation with ease, and it seems easier to control than my little one was.
