Hello James M P,
We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery. The run time varies depending on the tool that it is being used in but also the load acting against the unit while in use. We would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please kindly contact our customer support team by sending an email through the customer contact page located on our website or by phone at 1-888-909-6757.
This newer version of 40 Amp battery is even better than the original supplied with our mower. We mow over an acre, so one battery was not quite enough. This one is faster charging and lasts about 45 minutes.
We have a Greenworks string trimmer and a backpack blower. The original battery is 2Ah and runs the trimmer long enough to most of our yard, but will only power the blower for about 15 minutes. Our new 5Ah battery runs the blower long enough to get lots of work done. When it does run down, we still have the other battery to finish up with. We really needed the heavier duty battery to make these tools practical for our use.
Have the 60v 21" mower, does not get 60 minutes of run time using a 5AH battery without the drive-motor, despite the product description saying this is possible with a 4AH. Bought this, and its too long to fit in the compartment with the lid closed.

Hello Owner,
It is unfortunate to hear that the run time is unsatisfactory. The run time of a lawnmower is dependent on the load acting against the unit and fluctuates depending on the height setting, the terrain, grass height, type of grass, whether you are mulching, using self-propelled function etc. - there are so many factors to consider. The run-time of a battery would depend on the load acting on the unit while in use (speed, terrain, unit height, grass height, and density). Please be aware that the more power being used from the lawn mower (i.e. lawn mower speed, terrain, grass height, density, etc.), the faster the battery charge will drain. Here are a few tips to help you extend the run time. 1) Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 of the total length at a time. 2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass and ensure that grass is dry. Lastly, while all our 60V batteries can be used interchangeably with our 60V tools. *Some exceptions do apply for the 60V 8.0Ah battery. We would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please submit an email using the customer contact page on our website or give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
I have three of these batteries now and in spite of getting a good run out each one I am sort of a perfectionist about getting the job done. I have several tools to use them with and when I get started I keep going with the other tools.
The entire lawn mower and the battery cost about the same price as the battery!

Hello ddddddd,
Thank you for your feedback. Batteries are the costliest items to manufacture and ship in any kit. Full kits including a tool, battery, and charger are priced affordably so that consumers can begin building that line of tools and move forward purchasing tool-only units. When you purchase batteries on their own, it is more notable the cost that they carry. We apologize if this is of any inconvenience to you. To learn about other offers please email us directly at info@greenworkstools.com or call our toll-free number at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) we would be happy to carry on the conversation.
