I purchased a 5ah battery last year and it has not performed well from the start but now it will not take a charge at all. As soon as I put it on the charger it goes from flashing green to RED. I still have the 4ah that came with the machine and I am glad I didn't give it away. It has declined in performance over this summer and now is dead. I mow my yard about every 3 days, set cut level at 3.5 to 3 depending on the temperature, don't mow when wet and keep the batteries charged over the winter. I feel that this battery was not of good quality when purchased and will be looking for a knockoff for the replacement. What do I have to loose. I really like using the electric mower but this batteries are less that desirable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello unhappy in Oklahoma,
We are sorry to hear about the experience you have encountered with this battery. The overall battery life is dependent on many factors such as where they have been stored, charged, and handled. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. It is recommended to store the battery with a full charge, and if it is being stored for a period where no use is expected, to check on the charge every couple of months. If you notice the charge has dropped, we advise charging the battery back up to full before returning it to its safe storage place. Following these steps will ensure you receive the most of the battery life. Please know that our batteries are covered by the manufacturer's warranty as stated in the owner’s manual period from the date of purchase. Should you continue to experience a problem with the battery and charger, please Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. All we ask that you have access to the battery and charger so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
We bought this battery as a spare so that while we were mowing with one battery we would have another one charged and ready. It works great, though I don't get as many breaks as I used to!
Had to get this to replace ours that died. Think it died because we over charged it, as a heads up. It works great so far. Giving it four stars because the other died.
Great tool! Saws right through branches and limbs! Plenty of power!! Battery lasts and I have never had to recharge when I have been out cutting limbs! I have a number of Greenworks tools and highly recommend them!
A major improvement over the 2.5 Ah battery that came with the mower. Where before it took two charges of the 2.5 to mow my front lawn and two for my back lawn, so it took 2 days. This battery manages all of the front and half the back, leaving the last bit for the original 2.5 Ah battery.
