I bought the case knowing it doesn't have the protective screen on the front and thought that I would be ok without it. I was wrong, I am always nervous now that my screen is not protected.
I know the screen is curved but the case for my s7 edge worked just fine with the protective screen cover.
Also, I am disappointed that the wireless charging does not work while the case is on most of the time. You have to pay the charger down and find the absolute perfect spot for the phone to charge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

As for the wireless charging, the Defender is compatible with all Samsung wireless charging stands that are in the flat configuration. As long as they are horizontal, the case should not hinder the wireless charging feature in any way. Extremely happy with this product. Ive used otterbox for all of my phones and honestly this is the best version yet. The Note 8 is beautiful and this case is as rugged as can be without taking away very much of the slim design of the Note 8. Adds a minimal amount of bulk but nothing near what I was expecting. Super soft yet durable rubber outershell. Sturdy inner plastic case. Does not feel like this case is going anyway on the phone. Tight fit. Recommend this to anyone looking for added protection without added bulk. Highly suggest investing in this!

It's protective, easy to grip, and includes a secure holster. I've used Otterbox Defenders for years, but always disliked the soft plastic screen cover. This model dispenses with that and I can use my own glass screen protector. Now the display is sharp and clear and my phone is as protected as it can be outside of its shipping box. The best.

It seems to be adequate and should offer protection for my galaxy note 8. I haven't dropped it since receiving the case so that has not been tested. Installation was easy and straight forward. I do not like the access to the "S" pen that comes with the Note 8 it is very difficult to get the pen out of it's holster with the defender case installed. I thought it was a bit pricy compared with other phone cases.

The Defender case protected my Note 2 for 4 years, so I trust it to protect my new Note 8.
Although the new case lacks screen proteaction. So it would be nice if it at least shipped with a stick on protector. I am s little concerned about the screen getting scratched up.

Not bad, but could use some work on the holder/holster. It doesn't quite fit well and seems loose. Also, if you use cable to charge instead of wireless charger, you will ruin the case. Where you plug it in it pushes up hard on the tab. Over time that will be ruined.
Other then those issues, it's great as always. It's an Otterbox.
