yes it plainly states that there is no screen cover/
As an otterbox owner for many years and yes it has saved my phone from many a fall I am still deeply dissapointed that there is no screen cover on the case.
it will surely stop the accidental dents and dings need to find something else to keep the screen pristine

The Defender will most certainly keep your Galaxy Note 8 safe from dents and dings, but we apologize that you're feeling so disappointed by the lack of the screen protector. We were concerned that our customers would have difficulty accessing the full curved infinity glass with a screen protector attached to the case itself, so in order to forego any of these frustrations, we did not include one. If you're still looking for another screen protection option, we do carry the Alpha Glass tempered glass screen protector that will pair perfectly with your Defender. The defense of the case is great it is why I selected the defender series. I did not expect and struggle with daily the port covers for the USB and audio out. Both are so difficult to open when in a vehicle mount as to make it a concern when making future purchases.

Sometimes, the rubber components on newer cases can be a little stiff at first, but they tend to loosen up over time. I have been using Otter Boxes for years and I really like them. They have protected my phones from drops mor times than I can remember. However the weakest part is always the belt clip. There should be a way to reinforce them.
