Meh, I would have preferred that Otterbox would have included a screen protector, like in previous itterations of the Defender series, and it greatly disturbs me that the *only* screen protection is the black hard shell, that frequently pops off on it's own.
I've purchased Otter box cases for various phones, for both me and my wife, going back to *BEFORE* the Note 2!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am a maintenance mechanic and work in industrial environment. In the past the Defender cases I have purchased have worked extremely well in protecting my previous phones. I am dissatisfied with the Defender Note 8 case as it does not have any form of screen protection and the phone does not stay securley clipped in the belt holster.

We apologize about any disappointment about the lack of screen protector, and we understand that this makes some feel a little more vulnerable. We were concerned that our customers would have difficulty using the curved edges of the infinity display with a built-in screen protector, so in order to forego any of these frustrations, we decided to not include one. Rest assured, our cases are just as protective as ever! Additionally, we do carry the Alpha Glass screen protector as an option for extra security, which will pair perfectly with your Defender.
In terms of the best clip holster, it is bizarre that it won't hold your phone securely at your side. We definitely don't want you worrying that your phone is going to fall, especially while you're doing maintenance! Feel free to call our helpful Otters at 1-855-688-7269, and they'll be happy to send a warranty replacement that should work better for you!

This would be my 7th otter box defender series. Of all the other phones and defenders I've had this one feels the smallest. I get it has to be for the phone but every other phone I've had with a defender felt invincible whereas this feels flimsy... I don't know if I would recommend this to a friend

I've owned Otterbox cases for my all of my phones for at least the last 7 years and they have saved many a potential cracked screen. I especially like how the screen cover has been removed from the Note 8 version. That was always an issue with the case I had for the Galaxy S7.
