Have had mine for a week - I work in tight areas and always have it on belt clip. Glad to see that the clip is beefier than my original note 4 defender case. There is only one thing that is a bit of an issue for me (not at fault of otterbox), due to the case being narrower because of screen design, the latch isn't quite as big, and occasionally after getting a good jarring the phone likes to come unlatched from the case a little easier than my note 4. I have a 3 inch o-ring that sits between volume and Bixby key that keeps it in the holder if it does come unlatched, but flexible enough I can still fold it out a little to see a call/check time.
It is the best case out there for the Note 8. My only problem is that it has no screen protector. I really miss this added layer. However I will try the Alpha Glass that Otterbox offers. I have seen mixes reviews on the AG for previous phone. I hope that Alpha Glass fits perfect on Note 8.
I have been buying otter box cases for about 6 years now. We have always had to remove the cheap plastic screen porter to a put a quality screen protector on. There have been highs and lows with these cases. The last case was for a s7 edge and it was not a good fit. The buttons didn't align up properly, so pressing didn't actually do anything unless you loosened up the back rubber sleeve. Called otter box support 3 times and they sent me New one's each time with the same result. This case for the note 8 is back to great quality. Both my wife have this case (We swap covers, I got purple cover and black plastic, she's got pink plastic and black cover...wish we could custom order our color combinations) and extremely satisfied with this brand and case. Case no longer includes a cheap plastic protector and fits the phone perfectly. The spen can be popped out with no issues.
The case itself is very slick and very well made. The only problems I'm having is the flaps covering the charging port and the headphone jack. They are almost impossible to get open unless you have Krueger nails. The other problem is the case clip. Once it's open and clicks into place for the "stand mode", You almost have to break it to get it to close.
for now it protects my phone but this case is just recent so I have to come back to review it more thoroughly. Looks sturdy but it won't support wireless charging. Hence the 4 stars.
I bought this as soon as I pre-ordered my Note 8. I received my Defender case in the mail one (1) day before I received my Note 8 in the mail, which just so happened to be perfect timing! I love the Note series of phones, and my last one was the Note 5 and I had the Defender case on that phone as well. Took the case off my old phone after about 4 years and my phone was still in perfect condition! Now the new Defender for the Note 8 is even better so far! It's much thinner than the Defender for the Note 5, which I love cause I carry mine in my back pocket. I like the screenless part of it as well, as the plastic screen on the Defender for the Note 5 would get dust in between the phone screen and the plastic screen on the case and it would make it hard to see the images on your phone. Overall I love the new Defender for the Note 8, best Defender I have owned yet!!
