I bought this case a couple of weeks ago and I'm disappointed. I've always bought the defender series cases but this particular defender case for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 doesn't feel like it will protect my phone well enough, and a tempered glass screen protector DOESN'T FIT with this case.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Extremely happy with this product. Ive used otterbox for all of my phones and honestly this is the best version yet. The Note 8 is beautiful and this case is as rugged as can be without taking away very much of the slim design of the Note 8. Adds a minimal amount of bulk but nothing near what I was expecting. Super soft yet durable rubber outershell. Sturdy inner plastic case. Does not feel like this case is going anyway on the phone. Tight fit. Recommend this to anyone looking for added protection without added bulk. Highly suggest investing in this!

Over the years I have purchased many Otterbox defender, commuter and symmetry cases. I do stand by the fact Otterbox has saved me in numerous occasions. I admit I am taken aback by the new screenless defender as now it cost even more to protect the phone due to needing a separate screen protector. And very hesitant to purchase a screen protector for $50 as I have yet to find one that actually holds up along with keeping touch sensitivity. The screen protection is what made the defender the cream of the crop especially when traveling to the beach, amusement parks etc. And I didn't mind if I had to press a little harder in my screen during this times as I had peace of mind.
I still like my new defender for the note 8 but I miss the built in screen protector that made me feel much safer with my phone. I prefer the all in one, there was a reason I had one for every phone I have owned, but know at least the sides and back are protected.... Although, now it is going to give many other companies an opening to give the otters a run for the money due to screenless protection.
Satisfied but a little hesitant still, time will tell.
