Have had otterboxes since my first smart phone... durable protection... 3 out of 5 stars because after a few months to rubber part of the case gets lose and if you put it in your pocket of your jeans the blur from the denim transfers to the case. With this case (note 8) not very impressed there isn't a clear screen protector built in... probably because of the curved
screen... LOVE the purple!

Not real happy with the lack of built in screen protection that's been available for every other Galaxy Note phone up to this point. Paying the same price for half the protection the previous models give is disappointing. I've used Otterbox exclusively since my Note2 phone and every Note since. If this is the new design for the new phones, I doubt I'll continue to buy for the Next Note.

I have to agree with a previous post about there been no plastic screen to protect the glass from scratches and stuff. So now I have to purchase an extra item to keep the glass screen safe.

The design is very sleek, however I miss the lack of the front screen. I understand it's because of the edge curvature but I still miss the complete defense of the defender series.

Design has gone down hill.

The case overall is very good however the design has gone downhill .The belt clip part is very flimsy and loose. I am not the only person complaining about this there are many reviews that say the same thing. If you compare the defender case from 2 to 3 years ago versus the defender case of today it's a humungous difference. They went from a very beefy very tough case to this marginally protective flimsy case. I really hope Otter reads these reviews and they make changes in their design otherwise their sales are going to plummet based on these awful reviews they are getting. They remove the screen protector from the otter case and guess what now they offer the alpha glass screen protector for $40 extra. If you buy the alpha glass and the otter case this brings you are phone protection cost up to $100. This is just plain ridiculous. Why would they remove the screen protector from the otter case and then offer of the alpha glass? This is pure profit motive nothing else they are not looking out for you the customer.

We intentionally decided to forego the built-in screen protector on this Defender series to provide full access to the uniquely curved infinity display. An included screen protector could cause hindrance in touch sensitivity, especially around the edges of the phone screen, which was a frustrating experience that we did not want our customers to go through.
As for the belt clip, we would recommend facing your phone screen outwards when putting it in the holster, as this orientation has proven to work best with the Galaxy Note 8 Defender. I bought 2 of these cases for myself and my husband. The case itself as always is great. However because of the beveled screen I can't get a screen protector that works without it falling off. They do make some kind of invisashield that is a wipe that can be wiped on that maybe should be sold separate or with paying full price for the case it should be included.

I, like many, purchase Otterbox cases because we know it will offer great protection but the price is excessive. I'd like to get more colors but not much is offered and what is available is not worth what I want to do. So I rely on cheaper cases to enjoy the variety I want.
