Great concept, poor performance

First, the good news: the mower is fairly quiet and lightweight, so it's easy to work with. The bad news is that the battery performance is terrible. My lawn is about a half acre and it takes three charges to mow it, which wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take almost two hours to fully charge them. The description says that the batteries take 40 minutes to charge, which isn't even close to the actual time. Because of this, completing a job that would take an hour with a gas mower takes five hours with this one. And, yes, I mow when the grass is dry, rarely use the self propelled feature (why did I pay for it if I shouldn't use it?) and keep the cut length set to high. Really disappointed in this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Jim05482,
Sorry to hear you are not happy with the charge time. Please allow us the opportunity to clarify the charge time vs the runtime.
Runtime: Up to 45m. Charge Time: 75m per 24V Battery (5.0 Ah battery)
Hope this helps! If you require any additional support or have questions regarding a product, feel free to utilize our Q&A section or contact us at Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934.
The batteries can mow a 1/4 acre IF you set the speed to the lowest but do a great job I have mowed the yard twice and the result is excellent but it takes a few days to mow my acre as I do need to charge in between mows Now after my 4th charge, my charger lights are always flashing red so I have to guess when the batteries are charged.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hello Sanna,
We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life, here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.
1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. 2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. 3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily. 4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. 5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed.
Regarding the charger, we are sorry to hear that you have encountered an issue with your charger. Please try resetting it. In some cases that the charger has been plugged in for an extended period, it may malfunction. Simply unplug it for a few minutes and then plug it back in and try another outlet. If you continue to experience this issue, it is likely that the battery or charger may be experiencing a fault.
We hope these tips will help. If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact Greenworks at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.
Mower works great. Easy and light. My only complaint is battery life. The two 5AH batteries just aren't enough to mow more than 1/10th of an acre. Even without engaging the self propelled feature.

When I searched self propelled battery power NOTHING stood out better than your NOW mine 21" multiple use FOUR battery power mower. Simple a AWESOME mower & @ rabit power is awesome for this ole timer.
I like this mower, easy to handle and store. The Jury is out on the Batteries. When I plug them in they have all lights lit up. However after 5-10 minutes they are out. Still, they last till I finish mowing a total of about 20 minutes. I am hoping the lights are not accurate.
I bought this a few months ago. It is my favorite purchase. I just wish the battery lasted alittle longer but that’s easily fixable with buying two more batteries. The bag doesn’t hold much, which was disappointing. But overall I love this lawn mower.
