Not Ready for Southern States

I bought this mower in March of this year (2024). I live in the south and mow just under 1/2 acre. The first month I used this mower it was great and I would have given this mower 5 stars based on the first 3 or 4 mowings. I managed to mow the entire yard in about an hour on a single charge and the cut looked great. Since it has been a wet spring where I live and the humidity has been high, meaning the grass is never completely dry. I mow every 6-7 days (never more than 7 days between mowings) and since summer kicked into full swing, I have to use the Turbo button for the entire time I am mowing. I can no longer mow the entire yard on a single charge and it is taking closer to an hour and 45 minutes of mowing time as you must mow slow and occasionally clean out the deck. If you live in a warm humid climate where the grass grows fast, this mower is simply inadequate for a 1/2 acre yard even though it has a 25 inch cut. I am sure it will perform great in other parts of the country but I will be going back to a gas powered mower that can handle high lift blades and hopefully selling this mower to someone with a 1/4 acre or less. Another quirk I noticed is the self propelled has become harder and harder to disengage with use. The drive disengages but the mower will not roll backwards. Again, initially this was fine but it is getting harder and harder to get the wheels to disengage every time I mow. I would not recommend this mower to anyone that lives in the South.

We wish it could have provided the same experience for you. In the South, a few common grass types include Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede, and St. Augustine. Generally, these types should be mowed once every 5-7 days during the growing season, but this may vary based on your lawn's specific needs. We would recommend cutting accordingly to how quickly your grass grows, please note runtimes vary due to cutting conditions.
We also suggest, a mowing height between 2.5 to 3 inches is best for most of the season, except during summer stresses when the lawn mowing height should be raised one-half inch to mow at 3 to 3.5 inches. Raising the mowing height provides more insulation from summer heat and reduces water loss from your soil. The self-propelled feature is not usable in reverse. They are designed to lock when pulled back to prevent damage to the drive belt. If you are using the self-propelled feature, the mower will attempt to move forward and will be difficult to move backwards. You would have to release the self-propelled lever to pull the mower backwards while still holding onto the start lever. We hope this helps.

Tough as nails

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Started a small landscaping business 3 years ago and bought the 25" cutter lawnmower along with a few other items. That lawnmower got wet , dirty, muddy and banged up all the time. It finally quit yesterday and decided to buy another one yesterday. It doesn't compare to my backup mower which is gas driven. My back up is still a backup. My green works is very compack, versital, easy ,light weight. Glad i made the right choice in this purchase.

60 volt 25 inch mower

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 1/3 acre yard with a very steep area in my front yard. As a handicapped senior citizen I was having difficulty cutting it even though the gas powered mower I was using was self propelled. I bought the Greenworks 25 inch self propelled mower and now I look forward to cutting my grass ! It has no problem pulling itself up the steep bank, provides a very snooth cut, has the easiest height adjustment I ever saw, and has ample cutting power. The 2 battery system works amazingly and I can cut almost my whole yard before it automatically switches to the second battery.
I am so impressed with lawn mower I just bought a 60 volt snowblower and am looking forward to a snowfall !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lawn mower is a beast. 25 inch cut with two 60V batteries. It cuts thru my grass like butter. I can mulch or bag and it does a fantastic job either way. I've been using a gas-powered mower for over 15 years and I can say that I'm impressed with this battery. powered mower. It's quiet and lighter than my old mower but it performs so much better. I've never had a mower with adjustable handles. This is just another convenience that Greenworks incorporates into it's product that gives them an edge over the competition.
