Not acceptable

I’ve had this mower for 1 season and it’s just not worth. To get a clean cut without missing any blades, I have to go over the lawn twice on turbo. I’ve sharpened the blades 4 times at different angles and levels of sharpness but the outcome is the same… cut the lawn twice. It also seems to tear the grass after the first cut with freshly sharpened blades. I’m not an engineer but it seems to me the motor rpms aren’t high enough to compensate for the blades being so short, so the blade edge is moving much slower than a gas mower running at similar rpms with a 21 inch blade.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Dan H,

Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear about this experience!
When the lawn is being cut uneven, this can indicate a few different things. The first being that the lawn itself is rough or uneven. However, if this is not the case then it is possible that the grass is too tall, or the cutting height is set too low for the type of grass. Try raising the cutting height and reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. If you have tried these suggestions, try having a look underneath of the mower deck and ensure that there has been no damage to the motor shaft, fan, blade, blade washer/insulator or the bolt. If any of these parts have been damaged or thrown off balance this will result in an even cut and likely, a noticeable vibration while in use.

Used my new mower for about a month and could not be happier! My mow-able yard is just over a half acre and the it has worked great each time...in fact I do not believe it has switched to the second battery yet and I use the self-propel about 80% of the time.

Worth the Price?

This is my fourth GreenWorks product (I have a snow blower, trimmer, and pole saw/trimmer). This has a better battery (twin 60V 4Amp) than the snow blower and is enough to do my .3 acre yard, even with higher grass. The twin charger is nice, and the mower folds nicely for storage and cleaning. I've only had to use the bagger once after a long vacation. The bagger is smaller than my gas-powered Honda 21", but even though it means more stops, I like it because it is easier to handle when filling the paper bags our HOA requires. Not sure yet if it's worth the $$$, but if the battery lasts longer than my snow blower battery, I will be very happy with this purchase.

Really great mower! The extra wide deck cuts off a ton of time. Battery life is great. Barely run one of the batteries down mowing my entire yard, I still have a completely full battery but I can use to power the weedeater. Nice and quiet but still has plenty of power. Also super handy to be able to adjust the height on all four wheels with one liver. Also really love the vertical storage, takes up no room in my garage!

I have a half acre property and there is plenty of battery to life when finished to continue using my Greenworks weed eater and blower to finish the job. I haven’t had an opportunity to use it when the grass is thickest which could impact battery life but I’ve been impressed with the efficiency and power so far.
